Katherine Marie Heigl is an American actress best known for her role as Dr. Izzie Stevens on Grey's Anatomy and her starring role in the movies Knocked Up, Zyzzyx Road, 27 Dresses, The Ugly Truth, Killers and Life As We Know It. Heigl was born on November 24, 1978 and began her career as a child model with Wilhelmina Models before transitioning to acting. Her debut was in the coming-of-age film, That Night. She then co-starred as Isabel Evans in the television series Roswell and movies including My Father the Hero before landing her break out role in Grey's Anatomy. Heigl has also been featured in magazines such as Maxim, Vanity Fair and Cosmopolitan. On December 23, 2007, she married Josh Kelley in Park City, Utah. Heigl has starred in several films, including King of the Hill, My Father the Hero, Under Siege 2: Dark Territory, Wish Upon a Star, Bride of Chucky, 100 Girls, and Valentine. She won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Izzie Stevens in 2007. In 2009, she starred in The Ugly Truth and in 2010, she starred in Killers. Heigl has also signed on to star in and produce the big-screen drama Life As We Know It, which revolves around a woman and a man whose respective best friends die in a car accident and they are left to share in caring for the deceased's orphaned daughter. The film will be directed by Everwood creator Greg Berlanti.
