Anna Hélène Paquin is a New Zealand-Canadian actress who was born in Manitoba on 24 July 1982. She was raised in Wellington, New Zealand, before moving to Los Angeles during her youth. After completing a year at Columbia University, she decided to focus on her acting career. <br/><br/> At the age of 11, Paquin gained critical acclaim for her role as Flora McGrath in Jane Campion's romantic drama film The Piano (1993). For her performance, she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, making her the second-youngest winner in Oscar history. <br/><br/> Paquin was a successful child actress, receiving multiple Young Artist Award nominations for her roles in Fly Away Home (1996), The Member of the Wedding (1997), and A Walk on the Moon (1999).
